Locoil is a small business and farm in Marshall, Wisconin that produces small batch, Farm Fresh canola oil. They use sustainable methods for extracting the best oil while leaving a small carbon footprint.

This shape represents a drop of Canola oil within another drop, which represents the seed husk. It also represents the dot of the lowercase “i”.

The lowercase L rises above the other letters, creating a natural negative space for adding the tagline,“Cold-pressed by”, when needed.

The name is a mashup of two words, so the O and I are also mashups, creating a custom ligature.

Setting the name in lowercase type, along with wide letter spacing produces a friendly appearance, reinforcing the local community aspect of this brand

COLOR

The colors were inspired by the rapeseed plant, the earth it’s grown in, and it’s final formation as pure, natural canola oil.

The oil is sold in clear bottles to show the beautiful color of this natural product. This makes it important to always store the oil in a cool, dark place. Labels were created to evoke the feel of vintage medicine bottles, highlighting the oil’s health benefits.
